Woven in Memory & Magic

Tartan isn’t just fabric—it’s a story, a symbol, a statement. This year, an official “Witches of Scotland” tartan was commissioned in tribute to the thousands persecuted under the Witchcraft Act (1563–1736). Every thread holds meaning: black and grey for the darkness and ashes of that time, red for bloodshed, pink for the legal ties that condemned so many.

It’s easy to think of witch trials as something distant, locked away in history books. But the fear of powerful, intuitive, and outspoken people—especially women—never really went away. It just changed form.

That’s one of the reasons I read Tarot. Not to predict the future, but to reclaim something older—intuition, self-trust, the right to think and feel deeply. The things that, once upon a time, got people labeled as “witches.”
